When Gods tune in.... by Malvika Nanda
Salman Ahmad's association with God is not just limited to Sayonee, the connect goes beyond that. A founder member of one of the most well known Pakistani rock bands, Junoon, Ahmad's track Ghoom Tana from his latest album Infiniti, is slated to feature in celebrity spiritual guru Deepak Chopra's upcoming movie How To Know God.
"I'm very excited! I met Deepak way back in January in New York and we hit it off at the first go. We talked about music and how it connects people at all levels," says Ahmad.

The Ghoom Tana track, co-sung by Shubha Mudgal (and featuring Nandita Das in the video), is expected to be part of the climax of the film. With this feat, Ahmed gets to share space with music diva Madonna, whose song Om Shanti from her Ray of Light album, will also figure in the film. Ron Frank will direct the movie. Talking about music in this part of the world, Ahmad jokes, "Here, we talk of bringing out English albums, but now our sounds seem to be catching the fancy of the West. It would be a good idea to bring out English albums for South Asia and give our music to the West."
On a more serious note, Ahmad informs that he is also in talks with Chopra to compose background score for his second movie, titled Seven Spiritual Signs of Success. And there's more: he might just appear as an actor in a George Clooney production.
Whew! Way to go, man.
